Overhead Door Service Technician

Position: Overhead Door Service Technician
Locations: Calgary, Alberta
Manager: Service Manager
Full-Time/Part-Time: Full-time
Work Hours: Monday to Friday, 7:30 am to 4:30 pm (40 to 52 hours weekly)

Northern Dock Systems is an industry leader in the sales and service of loading dock equipment, industrial doors and HVLS Fans (high-volume, low-speed industrial fans) designed to improve safety, productivity, and energy consumption.

Overhead Door Technicians serve a critical element of our business including installation and repair of loading dock and door equipment, performing regularly scheduled Preventative Maintenance (PMP), troubleshooting issues and performing repair work, working with WCO for parts requirements and scheduling, picking up and deliver equipment/parts as directed from WCO from various manufacturers/suppliers to the customer site, all while continuing to learn and progress through the organization.

Key Responsibilities

As an Overhead Door Technician, you will serve a vital role which includes:

  • Complete installation, field service, preventive maintenance and repair of the loading dock, overhead door, and commercial door equipment while on site.
  • Work with coordinators for parts requirements, scheduling and technical support, all while continuing to learn and progress through the organization.
  • Maintain adequate levels of stock of required parts on your truck and keep the truck clean.
  • Identify and report when quantities are low and require re-ordering.
  • Complete easily to fill out forms and PMP checklists in a timely and appropriate fashion.
  • Demonstrate proper safety procedures and product knowledge.
  • Supervise and teach apprentices while on-site if partnered.

Qualifications:

  • 2 – 4 years of Overhead dock and door industry experience is required.
  • Must be highly proficient with hand and power tools.
  • Sound mechanical knowledge is a must.
  • Sound electrical knowledge is an asset.
  • Valid driver’s license with clean abstract.
  • Basic computer knowledge in order to complete daily work.
  • Must keep current with required training and compliance as determined by NDS and our customers.
