Information
Trailer Tip Overs or Landing Gear Collapse
Trailer stability is affected by a complex relationship involving the number of axles, trailer weight, landing gear placement, weight and placement of cargo, weight and position of forklift, and more.
Furthermore, landing gear on trailers are not required to be inspected on a daily basis. If there are any cracks or potential failures in a landing gear your inside workers will not be aware of it.
Transport trailers present a critical safety risk due to the weight of cargo and forklifts. When the cab disengages from the trailer, there are two potential risks this creates unless a secondary support system is utilized.
- Potential risk #1: The trailer’s landing gear collapses.
- Potential risk #2: The trailer begins to upend and tip over.
Landing Gear Collapse and Trailer Upending
Trailer Stands for Safety
Prevent land gear collapse and accidents by simply taking a few seconds to place the trailer stand under the trailer’s front end. The trailer stand will act as a backup to the landing gear.
As a result, it will add extra strength and support to prevent mishaps and potentially serious damage or injury to both personnel and products.
We have a large range of manually deployed, ergonomic and shuntable trailer stands for your perfect solution to your loading dock.
No Boots on the Ground
Shuntable Trailer Stand
Busy loading docks are full of big rigs and blind spots. It only takes a brief lapse of attention by driver or pedestrian to put a worker at real risk. As a result, it is unsafe for foot traffic.
Keep workers off the tarmac and out of harm’s way with a “No Boots on the Ground” shuntable trailer stand. So workers no longer have to place trailer stands by hand.
- It can be placed and retrieved by a yard jockey or shunt truck.
- Keeps workers off the tarmac and safe inside the truck.
- These shuntable trailer restraints only take seconds to position.
- Additionally, the Shuntable 2.0 has a small footprint enough that it can easily be stored between dock positions.
Shuntable Trailer Stand 1.0
Attaches to the back of a shunt truck.
Shuntable Trailer Stand 2.0
A lifting mechanism is added to the front of the shunt truck.
Automate with Ground Mounted Trailer Support
Automate your loading dock with a Ground Mounted Trailer Support (GMTS). The GMTS is permanently position and acts like a low-profile speed bump when retracted.
After the cab detaches and departs, the GMTS can be activate with a push of a button from the attendant who is safely inside the building. When activated, the GMTS will rise and adjust to meet with the underside of the trailer in seconds to protect the trailer from tip over.

Trailer Collapse Prevention SolutionsLearn how to recognized threats in the loading dock yard, and how to eliminate them with two new dock-safety innovations that help prevent injury, tragedy and business disruption. |
With 80,000 lbs, Trailer Failure isn’t an Option. In the loading dock, a collapsing trailer is 80,000 pounds of trouble you don’t need. The momentum of a forklift turning within, stresses trailer landing gear and balance. A trailer failure can result in devastating consequences. |
No Boots on the GroundOut in the loading dock, truck traffic makes foot traffic can be dangerous. It only takes a brief lapse of attention (by driver or pedestrian) to put a worker at real risk. Our evolving line of “No Boots on the Ground®” products aimed at keeping workers off the tarmac and out of harm’s way. |
AutoStand PlusThe AutoStand Plus and AutoStand are still heavy-duty manual trailer stands. Featuring 30” wide contact plates the AutoStands deliver support that’s been performance tested with an overloaded trailer dropped from heights of up to 6”. |
AutoStand WideThe AutoStand Wide is our widest manually deployed trailer stand yet. At 66” wide, the AutoStand Wide supports two-thirds of a trailer’s width, and provides better protection from tip over that can be caused by heavy and uneven loads. |
Shuntable 1.0The Shuntable Trailer Stand, deployed and removed by shunt truck, is a fast, back-saving and life-saving innovation. Timing tests showed shunt-truck deployment not only kept workers off the tarmac and out of harm’s way, but it also saves time – on every use. |
Shuntable 2.0The Shuntable Trailer Stand 2.0 is placed and retrieved by the yard jockey (or shunt truck), fitted with a front-mounted lifting mechanism. With the driver seated safely inside the shunt truck, this solution ensures no worker sets foot on the tarmac. |
Ground Mounted Trailer SupportThe new Ground Mounted Trailer Support is permanently fixed in its dock position for automation. Once the trailer is docked and secured, with the push of a button, the twin arms of the device rise to support the trailer’s nose from either side. |
Two-Post Trailer StandFor more occasional use, Two-Post Trailer Stand, with its built-in caddy, is a low-cost option for smaller operations and lower-traffic loading dock environments. |
Models

Shuntable Trailer Stand 1.0The loading dock approach is a dangerous place for workers on foot. The Shuntable Trailer Stand is a No Boots on the Ground product designed to help keep dockworkers out of harm’s way. It can be easily attached to the back of a shunt truck. |
|
Shuntable Trailer Stand 2.0As part of the No Boots on the Ground products. The Shuntable Trailer Stand 2.0 is more efficiently carried on the front of the shunt truck and is forwarded into its dock position. Additionally, the compact footprint allows for convenient storage in the gap between dock positions. |
|
Ground Mounted Trailer Support (GMTS)Eliminate foot traffic and improve dock safety. The GMTS’s innovative design has the unit permanently positioned in the dock approach, in a retracted state. Like a low-profile speed bump, the incoming trailer passes over the retracted device. When the cab detaches and departs, with a push of a button from inside the dock, the GMTS rises to meet the underside of the trailer in a matter of seconds. |
