The Calgary Farmers’ Market recently installed Dock Seals with the help of Northern Dock Systems. They were so pleased with the results that they reached out to us again to address issues they were having at another loading dock location on the opposite side of their building.

The area around the loading dock was constantly cold due to the inability of the dock seals to seal around the mixed fleet of trucks. Furthermore, there weren’t enough heaters in that area to keep it warm, causing the cold to spread past the loading dock area.

To solve the issue, Northern Dock Systems’ technicians installed Berner Industrial Air Curtains (IDC12) on two of their 10′ tall doors. These air curtains create a 90% seal across the doorway by dividing up interior and exterior spaces with a moving curtain of air. This enables them to keep out cold drafts, bugs, birds, dust, and other contaminants for increased food safety.

By keeping out cold drafts, the air curtains help to make the loading dock area feel warmer and more comfortable for workers, even without additional heaters. In addition, the cold air from the loading dock area no longer travels to other parts of the Calgary Farmers’ Market to keep both workers and customers comfortable even on cold winter days.
