The AR-10K rotating hook trailer restraint has a larger impactable area, a direct drive system and reliable 24-hour battery backup system.
Company: Umicore
Province: Ontario
THE CHALLENGE
A reliable solution was needed at Umicore to replace a five-year-old restraint that failed to meet the customers needs during daily use.
Due to constant impact – the restraint needed to be rebuilt within the five-year period creating a maintenance headache for Umicore.
Additionally, the restraint was designed with a bulky front end design which prevented Umicore from cleaning the drains easily and thus requiring a longer cleaning process time.
OUR SOLUTION
By installing the Nordock AR-10K trailer restraint with 24 hour battery backup, Umicore now has a reliable solution that can still operate in the event of a power outage.
The AR-10K has an innovative design to provide a larger impact-able area to engage trailers. Combined with a direct drive system, Nordock was able to help prevent common maintenance issues and repairs.
The AR-10K is designed to take the full force of the trailer and securely engage it with a rotating arm. Positioned higher than the previous restraint – there is no interference with crews during the drain cleaning. With no obstructions near the drain, employees can clean the area.
Umicore also increased the safety of their loading dock equipment by interlocking the trailer restraint with the dock leveler to prevent accidental access when a trailer is not properly engaged. Complete with bright LED communication lights, employees and drivers are now aware of the status of the restraint system.
