The Calgary Farmers’ Market had a significant problem with their loading dock doors. There were no existing dock seals, which led to large gaps around trailers during loading and unloading. This gap posed a risk of letting in birds, bugs, pests, dust, dirt, and other contaminants. Additionally, the building was being damaged by trucks backing up too far, making it look terrible from the customer parking area.

Blue Giant Adjustable Head Curtain Dock Seal

To solve this problem, the Calgary Farmers’ Market contacted Northern Dock Systems. Their solution was to add Blue Giant Adjustable Head Curtain Dock Seals (BG200) to seal up the gaps and protect the building from trucks. However, the corrugated wall paneling prevented the technicians from mounting the dock seals flush with the building. Therefore, we worked with the Market and their preferred contractor to create an adequate mounting surface for the dock seals and repair the damage.

Long Lasting Dock Seals

The new dock seals come with an adjustable head curtain with Velcro splits to accommodate various trailer heights. The hi-vis yellow guide strips make it easier for trucks to align with the doors. Moreover, the 4″ wear flaps provide three layers of fabric protection on these dock seals, making them long-lasting.

As a result, the new dock seals look great and seal the gap around the majority of the mixed fleet of vehicles that come to the Market. This prevents birds, bugs, pests, dust, dirt, and other contaminants from getting in.
