The new Toronto Fire Station #144 with our Four-Fold Doors
Project Overview
We worked with Pegah Construction to provide and install the new Toronto Fire Station #144 with Door Engineering FF300 Four-Fold Doors.
Four-Fold Doors are bi-fold doors that open horizontally for opening speeds up to 24” per second. These high opening speeds make it perfect for fire stations when they need to respond to emergencies when every second matters. For a 14’x14′ opening, Four-Fold doors take less than seven seconds to open, while conventional overhead doors take between 14-21 seconds to open.
In addition to faster response times, the high opening speeds mean that the doors are less likely to be accidentally hit. Moreover, the high opening and closing speeds minimize heating and cooling losses for better energy efficiency for the fire station.
This blade door reduces maintenance costs and is rated to perform over one million cycles. While a traditional spring overhead usually fails after 50,000 cycles and requires either maintenance or a replacement.
Finally, these Four-Fold doors provide full visibility, even when opening and closing. As a result, this improves safety and prevents accidents because drivers can always see what is in front of them without obstructions.
