Project Overview
The building in Burnaby BC owned by SRY Rail Link had very old dock levelers near the end of their lifespan. In addition, these docks were too small to keep up with their current tenants, Day & Ross, larger trucks and busy delivery schedules. As a result, there was constant downtime along with high maintenance and repair costs on the old docks.
Northern Dock Systems worked with both SRY Rail Link and Day & Ross to find a heavy-duty hydraulic dock leveler that will last for years to come. As well as making sure that the new dock is sized correctly to fit with the type of trucks that were entering the shipping and receiving area.
We removed the old docks and cut the concrete for the larger-sized docks. Then installed the new docks with electrical hookups for easy operation. Followed by pouring concrete to finish the dock installation. Finally, our technicians installed new steel face dock bumpers to protect the new docks from backing up trucks.
As a result, Day & Ross has faster off-loading and loading speeds because of the larger docks. Moreover, the reliable hydraulic docks have also reduced downtime and maintenance costs.
Northern Dock Systems only replaced 5 of 24 docks at this Burnaby location so both the owner and the tenant could see the results of the new docks before investing in the rest. With this successful installation, we are optimistic about being rewarded with the rest.
