Project Overview
A Returning Calgary Customer for a Rubber Door Service
After replacing the old rolling steel door with rubber doors, Northern Dock Systems has become Lafarge Pipe in Calgary’s preferred choice for both the installation and servicing of their doors. Recently, when one of their older rubber doors began malfunctioning, they contacted our 24/7 Emergency Service team for assistance.
The door was inoperable and when they attempted to use it, they noticed that it sounded as if one of the chains connecting to the spring assembly had come off the sprockets.
Root Cause Discovery for Rubber Door Repair
Our technician arrived on-site within four hours of the service call. Upon inspection, he confirmed that the synchro chain had indeed come off the drive sprocket, as the customer had suspected.
He immediately set to work reinstalling the drive chain and tensioning the springs. However, after testing the door, he found that the drive chain came off the sprocket again. To determine the root cause, he examined the chain and discovered a damaged link in the #50 drive chain.
Fully Stocked Trucks for First-Time Fixes
To resolve the problem, he replaced the faulty #50 drive chain with a spare that he stocked in his truck, enabling a first-time fix for the customer. After re-tensioning the springs, he tested the door and its safety features through several cycles to ensure proper operation.
Finally, the technician explained the root cause of the issue and the repairs made to the site contact before leaving the site. Additionally, he documented the process with pictures for a Work Order Summary, which was emailed to the customer to officially close the service call. Within 5.5 hours of the initial service request, Lafarge in Calgary was able to use their rubber door once again.
