Project Overview
In order to keep up the expanding business, this Port Hope manufacturing plant needed three new loading dock positions. They reached out to Northern Dock Systems to supply, install and coordinate the construction of these new loading docks.
New Wall Cuts and
Sectional Door Installation
Three New Door Openings
First, we created three new wall cuts for the doors, which were supported with steel framing. Next, our technician’s installed Insulated Steel Sectional Doors on full vertical lifts. These 8’x9’ doors match the other doors that were already on-site to create a seamless appearance. In addition, these sectional doors were outfitted with photo eyes and wired safety edges to upkeep the safety standards at this manufacturing plant.
Dock Pit Construction
Dock Pit Construction
After the doors were installed, construction began on the new dock pits. The pits were dug out from the already existing floor. Next, the Blue Giant Hydraulic Dock Levelers with pour-in pans were installed into each of the new pits. These heavy-duty hydraulic docks will give them years of easy and low-maintenance push-button operations.
Hydraulic Vehicle Restraints
Following this, Blue Giant SVR303 Hydraulic Vehicle Restraints were added to each of the positions. These vehicle restraints have a restraining force of 35,000 lbs to securely lock trucks in place during loading and unloading.
Dock Seals and Bumpers
Finally, 101 Fixed Head Pad Dock Seals were added to each position. These dock seals will create a tight seal around trailers for energy savings. In addition, Steel Face Dock Bumpers were installed to protect all the new equipment from damage.
