A Calgary Overhead Door in Need of Repair

A facility in Calgary contacted our 24/7 Emergency Service team because their main overhead door was no longer functioning electrically, preventing them from fully closing the door. Since it was not considered an emergency, we scheduled a technician to visit their site the following morning and notified this customer by email.

However, one of our service technicians later called to inform us that he was unable to continue at his current site due to trailers needing to be moved to access the equipment he needed to service. He was advised to pause that job and head to the new service location for the overhead door repair.

Root Cause Discovery on Broken Commercial Sectional Door

Upon arriving at the facility with the broken overhead door, the technician began assessing the issue. Contrary to the customer’s initial belief, he discovered that the problem was not electrical. Instead, the door was inoperable because the cable had come off the left drum and the second top roller was missing on the right side.

Repairing an Overhead Sectional Door

Our technician proceeded to place the cable back onto the drum. Thanks to his truck being stocked with common parts, he was able to easily replace the missing 2-inch long stem roller. After completing the overhead door repairs, he lubricated all the moving parts and adjusted the limits. He then tested the door’s operation and safety features to ensure everything was functioning smoothly and effectively.

First-Time Fix in Under Four Hours

Once he documented all the work he did, including pictures and notes for the customer’s work order summary, he checked out from that site and returned to his original location, where the trailers had finally been moved.

In conclusion, even though this was not an emergency, our team was able to adjust quickly and complete the overhead door repair in under four hours from the time the customer called us.
