Project Overview
Six of the positions at PPG Coatings Services’ manufacturing plant in Cambridge were reaching the end of their life cycle. Therefore, they reached out to Northern Dock Systems to supply and install new dock levelers and trailer restraints for these positions.
Pit Hook Void
Our equipment installation team removed and disposed of the existing dock levelers, pit hook style vehicle restraints and control panels. In preparation for the installation, our technicians formed and poured concrete to fill in the pit hook void for the new vehicle restraints
Next, our technicians installed:
- (6) 7’ x 8’ custom Blue Giant hydraulic heavy dock levelers
- (6) Nickel-plated Blue Giant electric hook trailer restraints (HVR303)
- (6) Blue Genius Gold Series III combo control panels with dock and restraint integrations

Once installed, our electrical services team connected and activated all the new equipment.
This Cambridge manufacturing plant can now rest with ease, knowing that its new equipment will last for years to come. While the upgraded electric hook trailer restraint (HVR303) will make their dock even safer. It can hook on various trailers, including those with bent or damaged ICC bars. In addition, it automatically adjusts to the trailer motion during loading and unloading to minimize the risk of separation and injury. Also this vehicle restraint is durable enough to withstand extreme weather conditions with it’s IP67-rated motor.
