Project Overview

This manufacturing plant in Surrey BC had issues with rodents entering the facility. Rodents have chewed through the bottom of their high-speed vinyl fabric door. They had tried rodent-proofing this door in the past but had no success.

Rodent-Proof Rolling Steel Door

They reached out to Northern Dock Systems for a solution. After talking with the manufacturing plant, we realized that it would be best to remove the fabric door and replace it with a Hormann Steel Ranger rolling steel door. Rodents would be unable to chew through the rolling steel door.

Automatic Open and Close for Pest Control

In addition, we added automatic open and close motion sensors to prevent the door from accidentally being left open for pests to enter the manufacturing facility. The Falcon motion sensors can sense incoming traffic to open the door and have a timer to close the door within 30 seconds of it being open.

Safety Light Curtains

In order to prevent the door from accidentally closing on vehicles, forklifts or people, Steel Ranger comes standard with a built-in light curtain. It has an 8’0″ high light grid with infrared beams every 1.75″. If a beam is interrupted, it will automatically reverse the door to protect people, vehicles and products from making contact with the door.

Protection with Bollards

Finally, this new rolling steel door and its guides were protected from accidental impacts with bollards on both sides of the door.
